FIFA 18 introduces the biggest advancement in gameplay in the history of the franchise: Real Player Motion technology. FIFA 18 uses film-studio-style shading and occlusion techniques to enhance character rendering and the overall presentation of the pitch, delivering the world's most impressive and authentic football simulator.

Player control

Real Player Motion technology: the innovative system checks the trajectory of poses in every frame, creating the smoothest and most responsive gameplay in the history of the franchise. The game depicts the reality of football with incredible precision thanks to new movement techniques and frame-by-frame animated transitions. Real Player Motion technology provides greater movement fidelity for every player on the pitch and raises authenticity to a whole new level.  

Player personality: on the pitch, players are distinguished through six new character archetypes and innovative mapping technology, giving each one their own identity. For the first time ever, real movement, size and attributes will tell you how each player moves, giving you a realistic impression of the best players in the world. Cristiano Ronaldo's distinctive running style, Sterling's unique turns and Robben's iconic arm movements will be instantly recognisable in FIFA 18.

Dribbling overhaul: in FIFA 18, you'll run at defenders with the confidence that the best players can change direction in the blink of an eye. New dribbling mechanics will allow players to bring greater creativity to one-on-one situations. Take more precise touches, perform more complex turns and burst forward on the attack with more dynamism than ever before.

- Responsiveness: players will have new options for creating attacks in tight spaces thanks to creative ball skills, contextual touches and an overhaul of controlled dribbling mechanics. You'll be able to change direction with ease and feel how your player responds as they evade defenders' challenges.

Team styles and positioning

New player positioning: with greater freedom of movement, your teammates will assess the pitch and react accordingly. They'll burst forward with coordinated runs or move into space to provide intelligent support in attack. Thanks to new player positioning, your team will spread out evenly across the pitch, giving you more opportunities and space to interpret play.

Team styles: FIFA 18 brings the most recognisable tactics associated with various teams to the pitch through a range of realistic playing styles. You'll now recognise the tiki-taka of some of Europe's best clubs or the high-pressure style of Premier League teams in AI-controlled players. You'll notice the change in defensive and attacking approaches every time you face a new club or opponent.

Quick and dynamic substitutions: new substitution options, based on different contexts, will allow players to make changes easily without pausing the match. Whether you've missed a goalscoring opportunity or want to respond immediately after conceding a goal, you can make a change instantly without visiting the menu.

Stunning goals: enjoy smoother shots and headers thanks to new locomotion and finishing animations, giving you all the tools you need to finish your moves with more thrilling end products. Player personality ensures that the heroes of the game stand out in the biggest moments and finish even more often on the grandest stages. 

New crossing controls: new crossing controls give players a wide variety of options for putting the ball into the box and creating more dynamic attacking opportunities. Driven, lofted or back-post crosses aimed at the exact spot will have a greater chance of reaching the attacking player.

The world game lets you travel the globe with Alex Hunter in The Journey: Hunter Returns, alongside a cast of famous characters and football's greatest talents, including Cristiano Ronaldo and other European stars. Following an impressive first season in the Premier League, the world's best clubs have their eyes on Hunter and he's more than ready to explore the opportunities that come his way. He's prepared to take the next step, his future is bright and everyone is talking about him... But life isn't always fair in football. 

Travel the football world: Alex Hunter will visit a wide range of football settings during his journey, including Brazil on holiday and Los Angeles during his pre-season tour.

Play for more: chapter-based short-term objectives give Alex Hunter more to play for during the second season of his promising career.
