It does not require an additional accessory to work with Wii U.

- Watch your amiibo battle and grow. In Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, you can transfer your amiibo's data so that it appears in the game and fights for you. While your amiibo battles, it will develop its own unique skills and attributes, becoming stronger and learning new moves. You can even add your personal touch to the battle by customising its special attacks!
- Connect with a wide variety of games! In addition to Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, you can use amiibo in many other games, and how they are used will depend on the game. A wide variety of figures from different franchises will be available in the future
- Also compatible with Nintendo 2DS and 3DS. As well as working with Wii U, amiibo can also be used with Nintendo 3DS and 2DS thanks to an accessory that is scheduled to go on sale in 2015. More details about the compatible software planned for Nintendo 3DS will be announced in the future
