The Suikoden series began its journey in 1995 and quickly gained popularity as the first title in KONAMI's original RPG series. Suikoden I&II HD Remaster: Gate Rune & Dunan Unification Wars aims to preserve the original story and the charm of its colourful cast of characters intact. The debut of a new trailer highlights iconic moments from the beloved RPG adventure, along with new quality-of-life improvements, visual enhancements and gameplay mechanics.
The story begins when a hero becomes one.
Once a renowned hero, now a violent tyrant. The future of the Empire grows darker day by day, and eventually, a Liberation Army rises up against the oppressive government.
One by one, the 108 Stars of Heaven and Earth gather to shape the course of their history. The people harbour their own beliefs beneath two banners: that of the Liberation Army or that of the Empire.

Released in 1995 for the original PlayStation. Based on the subject matter of the classic Chinese novel The Water Margin, this is the first title in KONAMI's iconic original RPG series, depicting the destiny of those who bear the True Runes of the Scarlet Moon Empire. The story follows the protagonist, whose father is one of the empire's five generals, as he gathers his 108 Stars of Destiny and friends to fight against the oppressive government of the crumbling Empire.

Suikoden's unique system, which includes Rune magic and the 108 Stars of Destiny to recruit, has been inherited by later titles in the series. Other features include managing the Headquarters, which strengthens the power of your army and its bases, and Army Battles, in which armies face one another. The game also features an ambitious system that complements the grandeur of the story.

The hero of our story and Jowy were part of the Unicorn Youth Brigade of the Highland Kingdom, taking part in a gruelling battle against the City-States. The Jowston City-States, made up of the 5 cities of Muse, South Window, Tinto, Greenhill and Two River, along with the Matilda Knights and the Highland Kingdom, were involved in an endless battle for control of the land.
A few months before the story, Agares Blight, King of Highland, and Anabelle, Mayor of Muse, signed a truce agreement, with both sides pleased to see the fighting come to an end. However, the flames of a new war continued to burn in the shadows...
A cast of more than 140 characters, comprising the 108 Stars of Destiny, members of the Jowston City-States and the enemies from Highland, come together to weave a dynamic and magnificent story.
This is the second title in the Suikoden series, released in 1998. This sequel is set three years after the first game, further evolving Suikoden's unique systems, such as Rune magic, the 108 Stars of Destiny, Headquarters management and Army Battles, which were well received in the previous game. The story, with its detailed psychological portrayal of each character, moved many fans and became an iconic title in the Suikoden series.
