Marvel's Avengers is an epic third-person action-adventure game that combines an original cinematic story with solo or co-operative play*. Marvel's Avengers begins on A-Day, when Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Black Widow and Thor celebrate the opening of a high-tech Avengers headquarters in San Francisco. The celebration turns deadly when a catastrophic accident results in the massive destruction of the city. Blamed for the tragedy, the Avengers disband. Five years later, with superheroes outlawed and the world in peril, an epic adventure begins when a brave young woman named Kamala Khan sets out to reunite the Avengers and stop the unchecked power of the new, secretive force known as AIM.

CHARACTERS

CAPTAIN AMERICA. ROGERS, STEVE. With the aim of creating an army of enhanced troops during the Second World War, a secret US government initiative injected Steve Rogers with an experimental super-soldier serum, granting him the ultimate potential of human strength, endurance and ability. Wearing a red, white and blue uniform and armed with a vibranium shield, Rogers fought the Axis powers as Captain America, defender of the innocent and Living Legend of the Second World War. The Avengers recovered Rogers' body, which had been frozen at the end of the war following an accident, and thawed him out, so he joined them and eventually became their leader. Following the traumatic events of A-Day, his incredible sacrifice left the Avengers devastated.

IRON MAN. Tony Stark: billionaire, genius, inventor, philanthropist. Stark became the world's greatest weapons manufacturer, but after coming close to death, he re-evaluated his values and realised he could do something better with his prodigious talents. As a result, he created his innovative Iron Man armour and helped found the Avengers, Earth's mightiest heroes, who joined together to protect the world from catastrophic threats. Following the terrible events of A-Day and the disbanding of the Avengers, grief-stricken Stark longs to return to action and redeem himself.

BLACK WIDOW. Natasha Romanoff, who was raised from a young age in the Soviet Union's top-secret Red Room programme, is Black Widow, a dangerous super-spy who has mastered the arts of espionage, subversion and combat. Although she was trained to work as a government assassin, she ultimately abandoned her first mentors and joined the Avengers to atone for the mistakes of her past, promising to use her incredible skills and signature Widow's Bite to protect the innocent. Following the tragedy of A-Day, Natasha works undercover to help the victims of the event and clear the Avengers' name.

THOR. Legends tell of Odin's son, heir to the throne of the supernatural world of Asgard. This is the mighty Thor, god of thunder! On Earth, alongside the Avengers, he found a second home and devoted his life to protecting it from evil. With the help of Mjolnir, his enchanted hammer, Thor defeats any enemy that threatens his allies. Following the events of A-Day, he no longer feels worthy of Mjolnir and abandons it to lead a humble life helping the inhabitants of Earth.

THE HULK. BANNER, BRUCE. A massive dose of gamma radiation transformed Dr Bruce Banner, a brilliant and shy scientist, into the jade giant known as Hulk. When he reaches his emotional limit, Banner transforms into an immense rage-fuelled beast possessing superhuman strength, endurance and resilience. Hulk constantly struggles to control his unleashed rage, but he is a relentless companion on the battlefield. Shortly after the tragic events of A-Day, Bruce Banner becomes Hulk permanently, retreats to an abandoned helicarrier in Utah and isolates himself from society.

MS. MARVEL. Kamala Khan is a highly intelligent young American of Pakistani heritage with an optimistic personality. She is always looking for positive change and never hesitates to fight any injustice that stands in her way. Kamala has been a fan of the Avengers since she was a child. As well as thinking they are incredibly cool, she admires them (especially Captain Marvel) because they represent the best humanity has to offer. On a deeper level, they inspire her to be the best version of herself. Kamala was exposed to the Terrigen cloud during A-Day, activating the dormant Inhuman genes within her and awakening her polymorphic powers and healing factor. She has spent years hiding her abilities, but adventure will come knocking at her door in Jersey City and motivate her to become a true hero.
