The Settlement Defense Front (SetDef) is made up of an insurgent group that broke away from the United Nations Space Alliance during a secession war years ago. In the world of Call of Duty®: Infinite Warfare, our planet has been stripped of its natural resources due to population growth and industrial expansion. The inhabitants of Earth now depend on colonial settlements throughout the Solar System, which extract fuel and other vital resources from planets and asteroids. SetDef is a fascist force made up of soldiers radicalised and hardened by the extreme conditions of the mining colonies. Its aim is to seize control of these frontier outposts and their wealth, and to impose its rule over the nations of Earth. After years of deadlock, diplomatic relations are extremely tense and it would take only a small incident to unleash a large-scale war.

Shared gaming experiences

Social interaction is vital to PS4 experiences and, for this reason, new features have been incorporated into the very foundation of the system's hardware architecture. PS4 provides dedicated video compression and decompression systems that are ""always on"" and allow gameplay to be uploaded seamlessly. For the first time, players can share their epic triumphs simply by pressing the "Share" button. The video is uploaded while the player continues playing. PS4 also enhances the social experience by allowing players to stream their gameplay in real time to friends via live internet streaming services such as Ustream.

Connect with PS Vita, smartphones and tablets

PS4 can integrate second screens, including those of PS Vita, smartphones and tablets, so that players can access their favourite content from anywhere. A new application called "PlayStation App" will allow iOS and Android tablets and smartphones to also be used as a second screen for PS4. Once the application has been installed on these devices, users will be able, for example, to view maps on their second screens while playing an adventure game, buy games for PS4 while they are out and download them directly to the console when they return home, or remotely watch other players play using their devices.
