Thanks to the new online feature GameChat*2, users can play and talk to one another as if they were all in the same room, regardless of the distance separating them in reality. Whether celebrating a victory or simply dropping by to say hello, with GameChat users will feel as though their online friends from around the world are right there beside them. Once GameChat has been set up, users only need to press the C button on the right Joy-Con 2 controller to start a chat with their friends at any time. Using the console’s built-in microphone, up to 12 people in different locations can communicate via voice chat while playing. In addition, up to four people can share their screens and, if they connect a compatible USB-C camera, such as the Nintendo Switch 2 camera (sold separately), they can also enjoy video chat and see one another while playing and expressing their enthusiasm. If more people wish to join the session, they can only do so via voice chat. Until 31 March 2026, GameChat can be enjoyed without a Nintendo Switch Online subscription. After that date, a subscription will be required.
A larger screen with vivid colours that displays movement more smoothly Nintendo Switch 2 features a 7.9-inch, 1080p LCD screen that displays images in full high definition (Full HD), while the console remains the same thickness as Nintendo Switch. Even in handheld mode, Nintendo Switch 2 offers an intense and detailed gaming experience, as well as smooth graphics that allow you to see the characters’ movements and highly varied facial expressions in full detail.
Joy-Con 2 controllers are the completely redesigned controllers for Nintendo Switch 2 and attach magnetically to the console. Both controllers can be used as a mouse by sliding them across surfaces such as a table or the players’ laps to do a wide variety of things, such as aiming at targets in certain games.
Users can adjust the angle of the new stand on the back of NintendoSwitch 2 to play in whichever position they prefer. While Nintendo Switch only has one USB-C port on the bottom of the console, Nintendo Switch 2 adds another one on
the top, allowing players to use the AC adaptor included with the console to charge it while playing in tabletop mode. It is also possible to connect a compatible USB-C camera, such as the Nintendo Switch 2 camera, to enjoy video chat
in GameChat.
The performance of the CPU (central processing unit) and GPU (graphics processing unit) of Nintendo Switch 2 has been considerably improved compared with Nintendo Switch, resulting in greater processing speed and an enhanced visual
experience in games. It also allows more detailed graphics to be displayed and loading times to be reduced.
Clear sound and 3D spatial audioOn Nintendo Switch 2, sound is clearer and more natural, with an even better balance across the audio frequency ranges. When users play in handheld or tabletop mode, they can enjoy games with even more immersive, three-dimensional sound.
Nintendo Switch 2 has 256 GB of internal storage, eight times more than Nintendo Switch, for storing digital games and save data, among other things. If additional storage is required, Nintendo Switch 2 exclusively uses microSD Express cards, which can read data at higher speeds compared with previous microSD card models.
On Nintendo Switch 2, you can play both Nintendo Switch 2 titles and compatible Nintendo Switch titles, whether in physical or digital format. Some Nintendo Switch titles may be incompatible or not fully compatible with Nintendo Switch 2.
Joy-Con controllers and other Nintendo Switch accessories—such as the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller—can also be used with Nintendo Switch 2 by connecting them to the console wirelessly. More information about compatibility with Nintendo Switch games and accessories is available on the Nintendo website.
When users connect the Nintendo Switch 2 dock to a TV, they can enjoy up to 120 fps and resolutions of up to 4K in compatible games and on compatible TVs.
Thanks to GameShare, a new Nintendo Switch 2 feature, users can share a title to play it with other people, even if they do not have a copy of the game in question. For example, if someone has a Nintendo Switch 2 console and a game compatible with GameShare, they can establish a local connection with other users’ Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch consoles to invite them to play the title temporarily. If GameShare is used between Nintendo Switch 2 consoles, it is also possible to use GameChat during online games so users can chat with one another while playing the same title.
Virtual game cards allow users to easily manage their digital games, play them on two different consoles or even lend them to one another. The console’s virtual game card section displays all the digital games a user has purchased with their Nintendo Account, making it easy to access and load them onto the console. Once the virtual game card has been loaded onto a console, any user of that console can play the game even when the console is not connected to the internet. In addition, virtual game cards allow members of the same Nintendo Account family group to lend games to one another via local communication.

Up to 12 friends can compete against one another in the six additional attractions in the Game Rooms Plaza.
Other new features in this edition of the game include:
• Toad Brigade Base – Belabel Park also lets you put your skills to the test in a series of challenges set in Super Mario Bros. Wonder levels.
As you progress through the game’s main campaign, you will gain access to even more training challenges from across the Flower Kingdom. Complete each challenge by yourself or try it with up to three other players to climb the Toad Brigade ranks and become a brigade ace.
• Assist Mode – Is this your first time playing Super Mario Bros. Wonder? Here is a little help. Activate this mode while playing and you will be able to quickly recover from unexpected falls without losing a life, or avoid taking damage, regardless of which character you choose.
• New familiar faces – This new edition includes none other than Rosalina herself, visiting the Flower Kingdom for the first time. And she does not come alone, as her companion Luma also arrives as a support character, available when at least two people are playing together. Luma will not take damage and can help other players by defeating enemies with a spinning move and collecting coins throughout the levels.
You can even control Luma using the mouse functionality of the Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Con 2 controllers.
• And mischievous villains – Rosalina and Luma are welcome guests, but the same cannot be said of Bowser’s Minions, who have arrived to turn everything upside down.
After stealing Belabel Park’s secret treasure, the seven Minions fly off and scatter throughout the Flower Kingdom. Stay alert, because if you come across one, you will have to enter its level and defeat it on its own turf.
