Thanks to Nintendo Switch, fans can enjoy the definitive version of Mario Kart 8 wherever and whenever they want, including local multiplayer races for up to eight drivers.
The popular tracks and characters from the Wii U version are back, along with the downloadable tracks and characters, and new characters also join the starting grid: Inkling Boy and Inkling Girl, from Splatoon; King Boo; Dry Bones and Bowser Jr. In addition, Battle mode has been completely revamped with Balloon Battle and Bob-omb Blast, along with the inclusion of brand-new tracks such as Sunshine Airport and Dragon Palace, which join old favourites such as Luigi's Mansion (GCN) and Battle Course 1 from Super Mario Kart (Super Nintendo Entertainment System).
You can now carry two items simultaneously, including some from previous Mario Kart games, such as the item-stealing Boo and the feather, which lets you jump during battles. In addition, drivers have the help of the new Smart Steering feature, which helps prevent them from leaving the track even in 200cc races. In TV mode, the game reaches a resolution of 1080p.
A new console joins the Nintendo Switch family: with Nintendo Switch (OLED model), on sale from 8 October, the range of options for enjoying the extensive Nintendo Switch game catalogue grows. Here you can watch the presentation video for the new console, Nintendo Switch (OLED model).
Nintendo Switch (OLED model) is the same size as the original Nintendo Switch console, but includes a 7-inch OLED screen with vivid colours and high contrast. Nintendo Switch (OLED model) also features a wide, adjustable stand for tabletop mode, a new dock with a wired LAN port that lets you play online with a more stable internet connection, 64 GB of internal storage and integrated speakers with optimised audio for clearer sound in handheld and tabletop modes. Like the Nintendo Switch console, Nintendo Switch (OLED model) lets you play on the TV and share the detachable Joy-Con controllers for unforgettable multiplayer sessions.
Nintendo Switch (OLED model) includes a 7-inch screen with a slimmer bezel. The screen's vivid colours and high contrast provide an enhanced handheld and tabletop gaming experience, bringing games to life whether you are racing at high speed on the tarmac or facing off against fearsome enemies.
Unlike LCD screens, an OLED screen has no backlight, displaying images using the light emitted by each individual pixel. Simply turning off a pixel's light displays darker blacks, offering greater contrast.
Enjoy tabletop mode at the angle you prefer: open the stand and hand a controller to another player to share the screen and enjoy competitive and cooperative multiplayer wherever and whenever you want.
The wide, adjustable stand on Nintendo Switch (OLED model) can be positioned at the angle you prefer for comfortable tabletop gaming.
The dock included with Nintendo Switch (OLED model) features two USB ports, an HDMI port for connecting to the TV and a new wired LAN port, which allows you to enjoy more stable online gaming in TV mode.
Nintendo Switch (OLED model) features 64 GB of internal storage. You can expand the available space with a compatible microSD card (sold separately). Download your favourite games to enjoy them wherever and whenever you want.
Enjoy clear sound when playing in handheld or tabletop mode.
Nintendo Switch (OLED model) is compatible with the entire Nintendo Switch game catalogue. However, the gaming experience may differ when using certain Toy-Con accessories from the Nintendo Labo range, due to the difference in the size of the Nintendo Switch (OLED model) console and screen compared with Nintendo Switch.
All previous versions of the Joy-Con controllers and accessories for Nintendo Switch are compatible with Nintendo Switch (OLED model).
